Look, if your kid is obsessed with Pokémon and has already burned through the better movies (looking at you, Detective Pikachu and the first movie), Hoopa won't hurt them. It's safe, it's got the characters they love, and it's free on several platforms.
But let's be real: this is mid-tier Pokémon at best. The audience scores tell the story—even fans were lukewarm. Hoopa is cute but the plot is formulaic legendary-threatens-world stuff we've seen a dozen times. There's minimal character growth, the 'enrichment' is basically 'be brave and help your friends,' and it won't stick in anyone's memory.
It's a 73-minute babysitter that won't rot their brain but won't expand it either. If they're asking for it, fine. If you're choosing movie night, pick literally any other Pokémon film first.
