My Life as a Teenage Robot had a solid concept and was well-received in its day (that 6.9 IMDb rating is respectable for a kids' show). The premise—robot girl wants to be normal teen—still works, and the messages about acceptance and identity are genuinely positive.
But here's the thing: this show is over 20 years old, and it shows. The Flash animation style, the pacing, the humor—it all feels distinctly early-2000s Nickelodeon. Kids who've grown up with shows like The Owl House, Amphibia, or even modern SpongeBob will likely find this visually dated and slow.
It's perfectly safe and has heart, but unless your kid is specifically into retro cartoons or you're feeling nostalgic, there are dozens of more engaging options available today that hit the same themes with better execution. It's fine background TV, but it's not appointment viewing in 2025.
