JouleBug is well-intentioned but fundamentally mismatched for kids. It's a corporate sustainability platform dressed up with gamification—think mandatory HR training with badges. The environmental education is solid and the metrics are real, but there's zero fun factor.
For a middle schooler genuinely passionate about climate action, it could be a useful tool to track personal impact. But most kids will bounce off the corporate jargon ('ESG reports, woohoo!') and checklist-style challenges faster than you can say 'carbon footprint.'
If you want your kid learning about sustainability, there are far more engaging options. This one feels like homework assigned by your employer's diversity and inclusion committee.
