Honey Buzz is a genuinely lovely game that nails the sweet spot between accessibility and depth. The bee-economics theme could have been gimmicky, but the tile-placement mechanics are clever enough to carry it. It's not going to blow your mind if you're a seasoned board gamer, but for families looking to graduate from Catan or Ticket to Ride, this is an excellent next step.
The production quality is legitimately impressive—those pastel colors and chunky wooden beeples make it inviting even before you learn the rules. And the gameplay delivers: the honeycomb grid where completing patterns triggers cascading actions is satisfying in that "oh, I see it now" way that good puzzles provide.
It won't replace your heavy strategy games, and it's not trying to. It's a well-designed, beautiful, wholesome game about bees selling honey. Sometimes that's exactly what you need for family game night.
