This is one of the best-designed RPGs of the past decade, full stop. It's also completely inappropriate for anyone under 15 and genuinely difficult even for adults who don't regularly play strategy games.
The good news: zero predatory monetization, incredible depth, and genuinely enriching gameplay that builds strategic thinking. The challenging news: it's dark, violent, morally complex, and will consume 100+ hours of life. The competitive multiplayer element is fascinating but can create real social friction—only one player gets to be God, and that's by design.
For families with older teens (16+) who love fantasy, strategy, and can handle mature themes, this can be an incredible shared experience. For everyone else, it's probably too much—too complex, too dark, too time-consuming. This is advanced-level gaming, not something you pick up casually on a Saturday afternoon.
