Look, this is what it is: a violent animated movie about an assassin trying to protect his family from his past. It's not trying to be wholesome, it's not for kids, and it's not going to win awards for depth.
The 82% critic score is generous—this is competent DC animation for a very specific audience of people who want dark, violent superhero content. The 6.3 IMDb and 2.9 Letterboxd ratings tell the real story: it's middling even within its niche. If your older teen is deep into DC lore and specifically likes Deathstroke, they might enjoy it. Otherwise, there are better uses of 90 minutes.
The redemption arc is there but paper-thin, and the violence is the main attraction. It's rated 17+ for very good reasons. Not a family movie night pick unless your family's idea of bonding is watching animated assassinations.
