Clean Slate is doing something genuinely valuable: making a show about transgender identity and family reconciliation that's both funny and deeply human. The strong critic scores suggest it's well-executed, not preachy or heavy-handed.
This is squarely teen-and-up territory. Younger kids won't have the emotional maturity to process themes of parental rejection and reconciliation, and honestly, they don't need to yet. But for families with teens, this could be a genuinely enriching watch that opens up important conversations about acceptance, identity, and what we owe the people we love.
It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea—if you're looking for light family sitcom fare, this isn't it. But if you want something that entertains while also expanding hearts and minds, Clean Slate delivers.
