Look, I'm not going to sugarcoat this: Charlie's Angels (2019) is not good. With a 5.0 on IMDb and a 2.5 on Letterboxd, this reboot landed with a resounding thud despite its best intentions.
The film tries to deliver a fun, empowering action-comedy with three capable women saving the world, and there's nothing objectionable about that premise. The problem is the execution—it's generic, predictable, and forgettable. Even the 78% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (which is more generous than other platforms) suggests people watched it and thought "meh, it was fine" before immediately forgetting about it.
From a safety perspective, it's totally appropriate for teens 13+. You'll get standard PG-13 action violence, some witty banter, and female empowerment themes. But from a "is this worth your family's time" perspective? There are dozens of better options. If you want female-led action, watch the original TV series for nostalgia, or go with Wonder Woman, Black Widow, or even the 2000 Charlie's Angels films, which at least had camp appeal.
This isn't unsafe or inappropriate—it's just boring and poorly executed. Your teen won't be traumatized, but they probably won't be entertained either.
