Camp Camp is basically what happens when you let Rooster Teeth (the Red vs. Blue folks) make a summer camp show. It's cynical, profane, and deliberately anti-wholesome—which is exactly the point.
The 17+ rating from Common Sense Media should be your first clue: this animated show is NOT for kids. Max is a foul-mouthed kid who actively sabotages the overly cheerful counselor David, and the humor is dark and often mean-spirited. Yes, there are occasional heartwarming moments and character growth, but they're buried under layers of dysfunction and sarcasm.
For older teens and adults who appreciate irreverent humor? It's actually pretty entertaining (hence the 7.9 IMDb rating). The satire is sharp, the animation is distinctive, and it's refreshingly honest about how terrible some childhood experiences can be.
But for families looking for quality content to watch together? Hard pass. The animated format is a trap—this is adult humor in cartoon clothing. If your teen is 16-17 and has a dark sense of humor, maybe. Otherwise, there are far better options that won't have you explaining why the cartoon kid is swearing at summer camp.
