Look, this is the kind of reality TV that gave reality TV a bad name. The Browns weren't actually living off the grid—they were convicted of fraud for lying about their Alaska residency to get state benefits while filming a show about being Alaskan wilderness people. The irony is almost impressive.
Beyond the ethical issues, it's just boring. Slow-paced, obviously scripted 'reality' moments, and zero educational value since nothing is authentic. If your kid is interested in wilderness survival, literally any nature documentary or actual survival show (Survivorman, Planet Earth, etc.) would be infinitely better.
The 2014 Discovery Channel reality format feels ancient now, and even the 6.41 TMDB rating screams 'meh.' This is the kind of show you stumble across at 2am and watch for five minutes before remembering Netflix exists. Skip it entirely—there's no good reason to add this to your family's watch list.
